Account Deletion

How to delete your DistressNow account and request removal of your personal data.

Your Right to Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your DistressNow account at any time. When you request deletion, your account and the personal data associated with it will be removed from our platform, subject to lawful retention requirements described below.

Option 1 — Delete from the App

The fastest way to delete your account is directly inside the DistressNow mobile app:

  1. Open the DistressNow app and sign in.
  2. Tap your profile icon or go to Menu.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
  5. Confirm your identity when prompted.
  6. Tap Confirm Delete to permanently remove your account.

Your account will be deactivated immediately and scheduled for permanent deletion within 30 days.

Option 2 — Request via Email

If you are unable to access the app, send a deletion request to our support team:

Subject: Account Deletion Request

Include: The email address or phone number registered to your account.

We will verify your identity and process the request within 7 business days.

What Data Is Deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Your profile name, photo, and contact details
  • Your listings and listing images
  • Your message history
  • Your ratings and reviews
  • Your saved favourites and search history
  • Your notification preferences and device tokens

Data We May Retain

Certain information may be retained after account deletion where required by law or necessary for legitimate purposes, including:

  • Transaction or billing records required for tax or financial compliance
  • Records needed to resolve an active dispute or legal matter
  • Fraud or abuse logs required to protect the safety of other users
  • Anonymised or aggregated data that cannot identify you

Cancelling a Deletion Request

You may cancel a deletion request within 30 days of submitting it, before permanent deletion takes place. To cancel, sign back in to the app or contact us at support@distressnow.com.
